Natural Habitat and Distribution
The clown loach (Botia macracantha, currently classified as Chromobotia macracanthus) inhabits fast-flowing rivers on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia. In their natural environment, these fish can reach impressive lengths of 30-40 centimeters. Under aquarium conditions, they typically grow to 15-20 centimeters, though with proper care they can achieve up to 25 cm.
