Endler’s guppy (dwarf guppies) – this fish has recently begun to appear in the aquariums of amateurs. Endler’s guppy was described and introduced to the world by John Endler, who discovered this fish in one of the lakes in Venezuela. Poecilia wingei is endemic to several bodies of water in Venezuela and is found nowhere else in the world in the wild. However, thanks to the lectures of its discoverer John Endler in aquarium culture, this wonderful fish is probably already widespread all over the world.
Ranchu fish
Ranchu fish is a variety of goldfish, bred by breeders in Japan supposedly two hundred to three hundred years ago. In their homeland, it is considered the top of the art of breeders. Therefore, purebred, not hybrid ranchu have a very high price. In the nineteenth century, ranchu was accidentally brought to Russia, where it was more often called maruko.
Oranda
The oranda or red cap is a helmeted breeding form of goldfish. Some researchers believe that it was known in Japan as early as the fifteenth century. Japanese beauty standards not always understood by Europeans say that this fish is more beautiful the more fatty growth on its head.
Shubunkin
Shubunkin is a variety of goldfish bred in Japan. In Japanese pronunciation its name sounds like shibunkin. And the sound familiar to us today – shubunkin is the result of passing the word through European languages. In Europe, the fish first appeared after the First World War, from where it was imported to Russia and the Slavic countries.
Ryukin
Ryukin is another breeding form of goldfish. It is believed that this breed was imported to Japan around the sixteenth century from the Ryukyu archipelago or in another reading Ryukyu. To what the fish owes its name.
Demekin goldfish
Demekin goldfish is another original form of Goldfish, obtained by artificial selection. Many generations of fish breeders have worked hard to obtain such a fish, as well as to fix the changes at the genetic level.
Veiltail
The Veiltail is native to Japan (Yokohama). In its homeland, it was only available to a select few. Then two pairs of this fish were presented to Rear Admiral Daniel Ammen of the United States Navy. And from there it spread all over the world.
Comet fish
The Comet fish is one of the earliest breeding forms of Goldfish. Some authors indicate that this breed of Goldfish was obtained in America in the 1800’s. Other authors indicate that these fish were imported to America around the same time from Japan.
Mollinesia sailing
Mollinesia sailing is distributed in fresh and brackish waters of the Yucatan Island (Mexico). In Europe they have been known since 1913. In the Soviet Union they were distributed until 1941. Re-imported into the USSR in 1950.
