Description and Origin
The bristlenose pleco (Ancistrus dolichopterus) is a member of the armored catfish family (Loricariidae), native to South America—specifically the Amazon River basin and other fast-flowing waterways. In their natural habitat, bristlenose plecos inhabit the waters of the Amazon basin, including rivers in Brazil, Peru, Guyana, Suriname, and Trinidad, preferring mountainous, fast-flowing, shallow rivers and tributaries.
